Given the festival’s growing notoriety, our aim, as photographers, was to realise a documentary project based on portraits, with a historical value.
The project distinguish itself for the chosen medium, the large format camera
It’s a classic and antique camera that forces the photographer to have a slower, more thoughtful approach to the shot.
There’s only one slide for each shot, so the framing must be studied with the utmost care.
It’s an analogue iconographic tool, that describes as realistically as possible whatever is in front of its lens.
With our project we aimed to create a purely objective census of the festival’s performers, realising only one portrait for each band or musician on the lineup.
Each portrait has been staged in the same location, the dunes surrounding the beach /hanabi.
